At Clyro Church in Wales Primary School, we believe that learning should inspire curiosity, spark imagination and give every child the confidence to explore, question and discover.

Our curriculum is rooted in our Christian values and shaped by the unique children, community and beautiful surroundings of Clyro. In line with the Curriculum for Wales, we provide a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that places the needs, interests and aspirations of our learners at its heart.

Through rich and meaningful learning experiences, both inside and beyond the classroom, we encourage children to make connections, think creatively, solve problems and develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for their future. We value pupil voice, giving our children opportunities to influence their learning and helping them recognise that their ideas, questions and opinions matter.

Learning encompasses the six Areas of Learning and Experience: Expressive Arts; Health and Well-being; Humanities; Languages, Literacy and Communication; Mathematics and Numeracy; and Science and Technology. Literacy, numeracy and digital competence are developed across our curriculum, enabling children to apply these essential skills in meaningful contexts.

Our wonderful local environment provides a rich resource for learning. We embrace opportunities to take learning outdoors, explore our locality and help children develop a strong sense of cynefin – understanding their place, identity and connection to their community, Wales and the wider world.

We recognise that every child’s learning journey is different. Our curriculum supports appropriate progression for all learners, building on what children already know and can do and providing challenge, support and opportunities to succeed.

Above all, we want learning at Clyro to be purposeful, exciting and memorable. We aim to nurture children who are curious about their world, confident in themselves, kind and respectful towards others, and excited about where their learning might take them.
